    World War II in Prague

During this tour, your guide will show you Wenceslas Square, which has always witnessed the most important historical events, and take you to the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrichiad, located in the crypt of the Orthodox Church of Cyril and Methodius. Here you will learn about the heroism of the soldiers who carried out the assassination of the acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich and the subsequent wave of fascist terror, when several thousand Czechs were executed in the so-called "Heydrichiad". Learn what happened on Valentine's Day 1945 that American pilots would rather forget? Due to bad weather and a radar failure, a formation of 62 B-17 bombers lost their proper course and instead of over Dresden, found themselves over Prague and the densely populated city for nine minutes, during which time they showered the city. Why did the statues associated with the history of the Czech nation and statehood disappear, such as Wilson in front of today's Central Station whom the Germans removed when the Reich declared war on the United States. You will learn why the authorities confiscated 15,160 radios during the state of emergency and distributed 22,000 pairs of shoes to the citizens of the Protectorate.
